Aimes Grid Services and Keysource to provide next generation cloud computing data centre infrastructure

In partnership with Liverpool Innovation Park, AIMES Grid Services, a provider of Cloud services, has appointed Keysource to design and build a new data centre to support its next generation cloud computing infrastructure. The facility at Liverpool Innovation Park is the first phase of a new Cloud Computing Campus. The initial development will provide up to 10,000sq ft of net technical space and the capacity to develop a total of 35,000sq ft.

Keysource were selected by AIMES due to their reputation as a leader of innovation within the industry and proven ability to deliver efficient data centre solutions capable of supporting high density IT equipment. This long term strategic partnership will enhance AIMES’ capacity to deliver a full range of managed digital services including collocation, real and virtual hosting, platform as a service (PaaS) and software as a service (SaaS).

The concurrently maintainable design will enable a modular and phased implementation up to 1.5MVA with a planned capacity of 180 racks. It will utilise an innovative data centre cooling solution that maximises free cooling and efficiency, whilst providing high levels of redundancy that includes 2N UPS and electrical infrastructure with standby power generation.

In addition to the Liverpool Innovation Park’s 24/7 manned security, the facility has its own comprehensive security and protection, including access control, CCTV, Smoke detection and fire suppression covering all live areas, as well as a comprehensive monitoring and management platform that will deliver enhanced energy efficiency resulting in lower costs for AIMES clients.

Professor Dennis Kehoe, Chief Executive of AIMES Grid Services commented: “We are undertaking a range of innovative projects that will develop and deploy digital infrastructure and improve the services provided to our existing and future clients so we needed a data centre that would support high density equipment in a highly resilient and cost effective manner. Keysource has a proven track record in designing and building advanced data centre solutions, so were the best partner for the job.”

Rob Elder, Director of Keysource said: “We identified AIMES as a leader in developing next generation cloud services and are delighted we have an opportunity to work with them on this exciting project. The synergy with AIMES was evident with both organisations looking to embrace new technologies to further improve efficiency and deliver high performance data centres, and I look forward to our strategic relationship developing as we explore other innovative solutions in the virtualised environment. We are increasingly the partner of choice for data centre owners and operators because of our proven approach to delivering high performance Modular Data Centre Infrastructure to meet precise business needs and operational requirements.”
