Electronic Environments Corporation (EEC) Certified Data Center Energy Practitioners (DCEP)

Electronic Environments Corporation (EEC) announced that Jim Stark, Design/Build Manager, has recently been certified as aData Center Energy Practitioner (DCEP).

Jim has been with EEC since 1993 providing engineering and construction project management. He has extensive experience in delivering mission-critical data center projects and performing site assessments and evaluations with regard to industry standards and power quality. Jim has a degree in electrical engineering and is a registered professional electrical engineer.

To obtain the DCEP certification, Jim was required to have specific work experience and expertise in IT-equipment, cooling systems, air management, and electrical systems. Other skills that served as a prerequisite included: design, operation, and diagnostics experience, as well as proficiency with measurement equipment techniques and data collection.

The goal of the Data Center Energy Practitioner (DCEP) program is to train diverse professionals to become energy experts with the experience to conduct energy assessments for data centers, a growing and energy-intensive industry. Significant knowledge, training, and skills are required to perform accurate energy assessments in data centers, and the DCEP program was designed and implemented in close coordination with industry stakeholders to train a core group of professional energy practitioners to help data centers reduce their energy demands and accelerate energy savings.

Data centers use huge amounts of energy and as a result are extremely expensive to operate. By working with EEC, data center customers will have an advantage of working with experts who can perform data center energy assessments based on both hands-on experience and classroom training provided by the U.S. Department of Energy. EEC data center experts have the experience and skills in all data center disciplines to help companies to review, assess and provide solutions to maximize energy savings and reduce operating expenses – all the while maintaining uptime of their critical facilities.
